Shore Area Taxi Driver Found Shot Multiple Times, Dead Behind Dumpster in Hazlet

FREEHOLD, N.J. — The fatal shooting of a taxi driver in Hazlet is under investigation, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Wednesday.

On Saturday, officers from the Hazlet Police Department responded to an emergency call at 270 Route 36 at around 7:18 a.m. Upon arriving, they found an adult male victim near a dumpster, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Anthony Hill of Eatontown.

The investigation is being led by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Hazlet Police Department.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Thomas Manzo, Jr., or Hazlet Police Department Detective Steven Venticinque.
