D.C. man wins $50K on scratch-off, calls it a ‘life-changer’

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A local man, who drives both a taxi and for a ride-hailing service, won $50,000 on a $1 Million Royale scratch-off, describing the win as a huge relief from his financial worries.

The winner purchased the ticket at Colesville Road Exxon in Silver Spring while stopping for gas. After initially winning small prizes on two tickets, he splurged on a $20 $1 Million Royale ticket. The prize check scanner revealed a life-changing $50,000 win.

“I often see $5 or $50 wins, but there were suddenly so many zeros,” the winner said, adding that the prize will help him pay off a lingering debt that has been a constant source of stress.

The $1 Million Royale game still has four $1 million top prizes and two $50,000 prizes remaining.
