Man Fatally Shot in Northeast D.C.

Police and Ambulances Behind Crime Scene Tape

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A fatal shooting that occurred in Northeast D.C. is under investigation, according to authorities.

On Friday night, at approximately 11:04 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4500 block of Quarles Street, Northeast. While officers found evidence of gunfire at the scene, the victim was not initially located. Shortly afterward, an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds was found at a nearby D.C. Fire and EMS station. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old James Gripper of Bladensburg, Maryland.

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the police at (202) 727-9099 or send an anonymous tip via text to 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for homicides in the District.
