Suspect Arrested in Fatal D.C. Shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 49-year-old Michael Simpson in Northeast D.C.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue on August 24 at approximately 5:39 p.m., where they found Simpson suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by DC Fire and EMS, Simpson succumbed to his injuries the following day.

On Wednesday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended 43-year-old Damon Maurice McQuarters. McQuarters has been charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated) pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.
