Police Report Multiple Vehicle Burglaries in Ocean

Ocean Twp., NJ -Officers from the Township of Ocean Police Department responded to reports of motor vehicle burglaries on Oak Knoll Road on Wednesday. The initial investigation led to additional residents reporting similar incidents. On Thursday, officers attended to further reports of motor vehicle burglaries in the Cedar Village development.

Detectives processed the vehicles for forensic evidence both days. They obtained surveillance footage from several homes capturing the suspect. The footage showed the suspect riding a distinctive bicycle while committing the burglaries. Burglaries occurred on Oak Tree Lane, Fieldstone Lane, Roller Road, Deal Road, McKinley Drive, Jefferson Drive, and Sequoia Parkway.

Sergeant Jesse Orbach observed a bicycle matching the description in the area of the Fernwood Motel on Rt. 66 in Neptune. The suspect, later identified as Kevin Alberto Mendoza-Salgado, was near one of the motel rooms.

Orbach conducted surveillance, and Mendoza-Salgado was later stopped by Neptune Police Department officers for an outstanding warrant with Orbach’s assistance. Mendoza-Salgado was subsequently arrested and brought to headquarters for processing.
