Cumberland man arrested for assault following altercation

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday following an assault at a residence on Springdale Street, according to the Cumberland Police Department.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Springdale Street after receiving a report of an assault. Upon arrival, they encountered multiple individuals engaged in a verbal altercation outside the residence. Authorities separated the individuals and spoke with the victim, who reported being choked during an argument inside the home.

Following an investigation, Alex Corbin Lemmon, 23, of Cumberland, was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault.

Lemmon was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance and is currently being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
