Virginia Beach police make quick arrest in Fox Creek Court homicide

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — A 19-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on September 30 in the 600 block of Fox Creek Court. The Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to a ShotSpotter alert and a subsequent 911 call around 9:40 a.m. reporting a victim with gunshot wounds.

First responders attempted to render aid to the victim, Keshawn Woodhouse, 20, of Virginia Beach, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

VBPD Homicide detectives determined that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Lynbrook Landing and Baker Road. Using Flock license plate reader technology, the vehicle was tracked to Portsmouth.

The suspect, identified as Javon Pollard, 19, of Portsmouth, was arrested in less than 13 hours with assistance from the Portsmouth Police Department SWAT team. Pollard was apprehended without incident.

“This quick arrest is once again a testament to the incredible teamwork and dedication of your Virginia Beach Police Department,” said Police Chief Paul Neudigate. He thanked the detectives and Portsmouth police for helping bring timely closure to Woodhouse’s family.

Pollard has been charged with second-degree murder, unauthorized use of a firearm, attempted robbery, and felony hit and run. He was also served with unrelated warrants from Newport News and Portsmouth.
