61-year-old man victim of theft in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, PA – Police responded to a reported theft on South Washington Street on Tuesday, October 1st at 8:00 AM. The incident involved a 61-year-old man from Sugarloaf, PA, and led to the arrest of Paul Woychio, 53, of Wilkes-Barre, PA.

The victim stated he was charging his cellular phone inside a business on South Washington Street. He stepped outside to smoke a cigarette and returned to find his phone and charger missing.

Police reviewed surveillance footage and identified Paul Woychio as the suspect. Appropriate charges have been filed against Woychio following this identification.

Further details regarding the charges have not been disclosed at this time. Officers continue to address the situation as necessary.
