Allegany Run and 5K to Impact Traffic in Cumberland

Cumberland, MD – The Great Allegany Run and 5K, sponsored by the Queen City Striders and Allegany County Habitat for Humanity, will take place on Saturday between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.

The 5K race will begin on Harrison Street. Runners will then turn right on Centre Street, right on Frederick Street, pass through the downtown shopping center parking lot, and travel along Queen City Drive. After reaching Mechanic Street, they will turn right and continue to the turnaround point near Southern States before reversing course to travel back along the same route.

The Great Allegany Run will enter Cumberland via the Narrows on Route 36, heading south on Mechanic Street. They will turn left onto Queen City Drive from south Mechanic Street and continue onto Harrison Street. The race will conclude at the Lila building on Centre Street.

Throughout the event, traffic will be temporarily halted on the main and intersecting routes as the runners enter the city limits. Route 40 will be closed to outbound traffic between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Residents and motorists in Cumberland should anticipate delays during the event.
