Stafford County sheriff reports road closures after heavy machinery crashes

STAFFORD, Va. — Two separate accidents involving heavy machinery caused road closures in Stafford County over the weekend, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

The first incident occurred on Friday evening when a driver hauling a skid steer attempted to pass under a height-restricted underpass on Harrell Road. The vehicle struck the underpass, forcing authorities to close the roadway for investigation and cleanup.

Earlier on Saturday, Deputy G.P. McCaulley responded to a crash on Widewater Road involving a forklift that entered the roadway and landed on top of a passing car. The crash led to another road closure.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported in either incident.

The sheriff’s office reminded drivers to “drive carefully and obey all highway signs” to prevent similar accidents.
