Firefighters Rescue Unconscious Driver After Crash on Route 17 in Bergen County

Firefighters in Bergen County rushed to the scene of a serious two-vehicle crash on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights on Saturday, October 5, where they freed an unconscious driver trapped in one of the vehicles.

The crash, which occurred around 6 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Williams Avenue, involved a Jeep Grand Cherokee and another SUV. Hasbrouck Heights firefighters quickly arrived, stabilized the vehicles, and extricated the unconscious driver from the wreckage.

Photos from the scene show significant damage to the vehicles. After the rescue, EMS personnel evaluated the driver, and “speedy dry” was applied to absorb a fluid spill from the crash, according to a statement from the fire department.

Further details on the condition of the driver or other individuals involved have not been released as the investigation continues.
