Newark police seek public’s help in identifying robbery suspects

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying three suspects involved in a robbery that took place in Newark’s Ironbound neighborhood last weekend.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in the 100 block of Van Buren Street. The suspects allegedly approached a male victim, assaulted him by throwing him to the ground, punching and kicking him, before robbing him of his wallet, $300 in cash, and an iPhone 14 Pro.

The suspects were last seen fleeing south on Van Buren Street toward Lafayette Street, officials said.

Detectives described all three suspects as short males in their mid-to-late twenties with no facial hair. One suspect was wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers baseball cap, blue pants, and a shirt featuring a “Get To The Bag” logo. Another was described wearing a black jacket, blue basketball shorts, and a dark-colored baseball cap, while the third was dressed in a black Puma sweatsuit with white stripes.

Anyone with information about the suspects is encouraged to contact Newark police as the investigation continues.
