Suspect Charged in Connection to Fatal April Shooting

Oxon Hill, MD- Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit detectives have pressed charges against 23-year-old Javon Moore of Washington, D.C. in relation to a fatal shooting that occurred in April. Moore is accused of the death of 19-year-old Tyron Avent, a resident of Oxon Hill.

The incident took place on April 11, at approximately 5:30 p.m., when officers received a report of a shooting near Neptune Avenue and Audrey Lane. Upon arrival, police discovered Avent outside, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Moore allegedly shot Avent and subsequently fled the scene. Reports confirm that Moore and Avent were acquainted prior to the incident.

Moore faces first and second-degree murder charges, in addition to other related offenses. He is currently held in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
