Fredericksburg Man Arrested for DUI with Child in Vehicle

Stafford, VA – A Fredericksburg man, Michael Hughes, was arrested on Tuesday following a DUI incident with a child in the vehicle.

Deputy K.F. Bierfeldt responded to a drunk driver complaint at 6:00 p.m. on Chatham Heights Road. The driver was found in the parking lot of Sparks Early Learning Academy.

The deputy identified the driver as 34-year-old Hughes, who displayed slurred speech and an odor of alcohol. A young child was also present in the vehicle.

Hughes was subjected to field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested. He faces charges of DUI with elevated blood alcohol content and child endangerment and is held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 bond.
