NYPD investigating hate crime vandalism in Washington Heights

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — Police are investigating an incident of vandalism in Washington Heights that is being treated as a hate crime, authorities said.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., two unidentified individuals vandalized a property located at 720 West 181st Street, according to the NYPD. The suspects spray-painted the front gate and used a hammer to damage the front glass of the office before fleeing the scene on foot, heading eastbound on 181st Street.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is leading the investigation.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the individuals responsible. Media depicting the suspects has been made available through the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information. The investigation remains ongoing.
