Man and woman found dead in Manassas home; suspect detained

MANASSAS, Va. — A double homicide investigation is underway in Manassas after police found a man and woman dead in the basement of a home early Sunday morning. Officers were called to a residence in the 8900 block of Hanson Grove Court at approximately 2:39 a.m. for a welfare check, according to police.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the two adults, both appearing to have been shot. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims’ identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities have detained a person of interest in Brunswick, New Jersey, who is believed to be connected to the incident. Investigators say the individuals involved knew each other, and the case does not appear to be random. No charges have been filed at this time.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are asking anyone with information to come forward. More details will be released as the investigation progresses.
