Thirty Acre Wildfire in Medford Township fully contained, officials say

MEDFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. — The New Jersey Forest Fire Service has fully contained a 30-acre wildfire in the Tamarac section of Medford Township, Burlington County, officials announced Saturday morning. The fire, which started in the area of Heath Road, reached 100% containment by 8 a.m., according to a statement from the agency.

Though the fire is fully contained, officials expect smoke to linger until significant rainfall occurs. Forest Fire Service crews will remain on site to monitor control lines and address any remaining areas of concern to ensure the fire does not reignite.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no structures were threatened during the incident, according to the Forest Fire Service.

Firefighters created firelines to halt the fire’s spread, preventing further damage. The Forest Fire Service will continue to watch the area closely until substantial rain helps fully extinguish any remaining embers.

This marks the final update on this wildfire, officials said, as they shift their efforts toward monitoring and ensuring public safety in the affected area.
