Orange County Sheriff’s lieutenant killed by estranged husband, a former sergeant

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of 39-year-old Lieutenant Eloilda “Ellie” Shea, who was shot and killed earlier this week by her estranged husband. The suspect, a former sergeant with the sheriff’s office, retired in August amid an internal investigation into his conduct.

Shea had served with the department since 2011. According to authorities, the incident occurred in a domestic violence situation, which tragically resulted in her death.

The sheriff’s office has expressed deep condolences to Shea’s family, friends, and colleagues, calling her a dedicated and valued member of the department.

Further details about the ongoing investigation have not been released.
