GoFundMe campaign launched for family of fallen Toms River officer

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — A GoFundMe campaign has been created to support the family of Ingrid Rivera-Zuniga, a young police officer from Toms River who passed away following complications from surgery. The campaign, organized by Nina Casalino, seeks to raise funds for medical expenses, funeral arrangements, and other costs.

Rivera-Zuniga, who recently underwent tonsil surgery, faced a series of severe health issues during her recovery, including meningitis and two strokes. Despite being surrounded by her family and friends, she succumbed due to complications from the procedure.

“Ingrid served our community with honor, courage, kindness and compassion, ” said Toms River Mayor Dan Rodrick. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends in this difficult time. Please consider donating to the following GoFundMe which will help Ingrid’s family pay for her final expenses.”

The fundraiser is being organized for Rivera-Zuniga’s mother, Jeimy Zuniga-Rivera.

“We thank you in advance for your support and comfort to Ingrid,” the campaign statement read.

As of now, donations are being accepted through the GoFundMe platform.
