Two dead in East Harlem motorcycle crash, police investigating

NEW YORK CITY — A man and a woman were killed in a motorcycle collision early Sunday morning in East Harlem, according to police.

Authorities responded to a 911 call at approximately 4:43 a.m. reporting a vehicle crash near East 106th Street and 3rd Avenue within the 23rd Precinct. Upon investigation, the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a Toyota Rav4 driven by a 30-year-old male was traveling westbound on East 106th Street when it collided with a motorcycle heading northbound on 3rd Avenue.

Police confirmed that both the motorcycle’s operator, identified as 30-year-old Alexsandar Jokanovic of Queens, and his passenger, 35-year-old Tamara Lapadatovic of Queens, were pronounced dead at the scene by EMS responders.

The driver of the Toyota was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

No arrests have been made, and the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is continuing to investigate the incident.
