Police Investigate Fatal Weekend Shooting in Morningside

MORNINGSIDE, MD -The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend in Morningside. The deceased individual has been identified as 38-year-old Joseph Holtz from Suitland.

On Saturday at approximately 12:50 a.m., officers from Morningside Police and Prince George’s County responded to a shooting. The incident took place shortly after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Suitland Road and Randolph Road.

According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting occurred following the crash. Holtz was taken to a hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead. Authorities recovered two guns at the scene.

Investigators have identified all individuals involved and are consulting with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office. Currently, no charges have been filed against anyone involved in the incident.
