Stolen Vehicle Chase in Yancey County Ends in Collision and Road Closure

Yancey County, NC – A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle from Virginia took place in Yancey County, culminating near Mountain Heritage High School on US 19E.

The chase ended with a head-on collision between the stolen vehicle and a Yancey County deputy’s patrol car. Shots were fired by the deputy to ensure public safety.

The suspect was apprehended and transferred to Mission Hospital. There were no reported injuries among law enforcement or the public.

The incident has resulted in the closure of the westbound lane of US 19E near Mountain Heritage High School for several hours.
