Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public’s Help in Locating Fugitive Wanted for Sexual Battery

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Sammie Oates IV, who is wanted on two counts of sexual battery involving a victim under the age of 12. Authorities are urging the public to provide any information that could lead to his arrest, emphasizing that tips can be submitted anonymously.

The Sheriff’s Office posted a public alert on social media, requesting assistance from anyone who may know Oates’s whereabouts. “We are hard at work looking for him,” the statement reads, underscoring the seriousness of the charges. Law enforcement officials have also indicated that a reward may be available for information leading to Oates’s location.
