70-Year-Old Bodega Worker Attacked and Robbed in Long Island City

NEW YORK — Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly assaulted a 70-year-old store employee during a robbery in Queens early Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred on Nov. 5 at approximately 3:35 a.m. inside a business located at 49-12 Vernon Boulevard. According to police, an unidentified individual entered the store, took several lighters without paying, and then punched the employee in the face and body before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim, who sustained a minor injury, declined medical treatment at the scene, police said.

The NYPD has released images of the suspect in hopes of obtaining public assistance to identify and locate him.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the authorities as the investigation continues.
