Off-duty NYPD auxiliary officer arrested on assault charge in Brooklyn

NEW YORK — An off-duty NYPD auxiliary police officer was arrested Thursday morning in Brooklyn on an assault charge, according to authorities.

The officer, identified as 59-year-old Joseph Novembre, was taken into custody around 9:10 a.m. within the 71st Precinct, which covers parts of Crown Heights and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.

Novembre, who serves as an auxiliary officer with the New York Police Department, faces a charge of assault. Details regarding the circumstances of the incident leading to the arrest were not immediately released.

The NYPD has not commented further on the arrest. The case remains under investigation.
