NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect captured on surveillance video stealing a package from a Newark residence earlier this week.

The theft occurred on Wednesday at approximately 6 p.m. on the 20 block of Sunset Avenue, according to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda. The suspect was recorded removing a package from the front porch of the home.

Investigators believe the suspect is known to frequent South Orange Avenue and Sunset Avenue in Newark. The surveillance footage, shared by authorities, provides a clear image of the individual.

Public Safety Director Miranda has urged anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity to contact the Newark Police Division’s Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). He noted that all tips remain confidential, and those submitting information could qualify for a reward.

“The public’s help is critical in bringing this matter to a resolution,” Miranda said in a statement.
