PIKESVILLE, Md. – The Maryland State Police are reminding drivers to exercise caution on the roads this November as Amish communities across the state celebrate their traditional wedding season.
Amish weddings, which are often held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, are expected to bring an increase in horse-drawn carriage traffic in Southern and Western Maryland. State police are urging motorists to be mindful of road signs indicating Amish populations and to slow down when approaching carriages.
“Please keep an eye out for an increased number of horse-drawn carriages when traveling,” the Maryland State Police wrote in a recent social media post.
The Amish community, which has a notable presence in Maryland, holds weddings during this time of year as part of longstanding traditions. Motorists are encouraged to share the roads respectfully and ensure safety for all travelers.
