Hudson County Opens In-House DNA Laboratory

Secaucus, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has inaugurated a new DNA Laboratory at its Meadowview Campus. This facility enables in-house DNA testing, accelerating the processing of investigative and evidentiary materials.

The initiative to establish the DNA Laboratory commenced in 2019 to enhance forensic testing. The lab examines evidence in major cases such as sexual assaults, homicides, and shootings, and serves all Hudson County law enforcement. It is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board and follows State and Federal regulations.

Previously, DNA evidence was handled by State-operated labs, causing significant delays. The new Hudson County facility aims for results within 14 business days.

Hudson County joins Union County as one of two Prosecutor’s Offices in New Jersey with a DNA laboratory. The facility operates independently of the prosecutor’s office, directed by Jonathan Kui and staffed by Senior DNA Analysts Kaylee Klose and Meredith Napor, analyzing up to 500 cases annually.
