Stolen vehicle flees scene as two suspects are arrested in D.C. shooting

WASHINGTON — Two suspects are in custody following a shooting Monday morning in Southeast D.C. that left a man hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred around 8:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Valley Avenue, Southeast, where officers from the Seventh District responded to reports of gunfire. Police found an adult male, conscious and breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

During a canvass of the area, officers detained two individuals matching the suspect description and recovered two firearms at the scene. The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Darion Muhammad and a 17-year-old male, both of Northeast D.C., were charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

Authorities are still searching for a third suspect who fled the scene in a stolen vehicle captured on nearby surveillance footage. Police are asking for public assistance in locating the vehicle.
