Manassas man arrested for assaulting officers during domestic dispute investigation

MANASSAS, VA — A 51-year-old Manassas man was arrested Wednesday night after assaulting multiple officers during a domestic dispute investigation at a condominium complex, police said.

Officers were called to the Stratford Condos in the 11000 block of Koman Close at 10:51 p.m. on November 27 to investigate a domestic altercation. During the investigation, one of the involved parties, identified as John Willington McCoy, began destroying property.

When officers attempted to detain McCoy, he actively resisted and kicked and struck multiple officers. McCoy was eventually subdued and taken into custody without further incident.

Police determined that McCoy was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Multiple officers sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

McCoy, of the 11000 block of Koman Close, was charged with four counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, one count of obstruction of justice, one count of disorderly conduct, and one count of being intoxicated in public. He is being held without bond, and a court date is pending.
