DULLES, Va. — A Texas woman was arrested at Dulles International Airport after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered more than 71 pounds of marijuana in her luggage before she boarded a flight to London.
CBP officers were inspecting baggage on the night of Nov. 22 when they found two suitcases containing large, vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana. The traveler responsible for the luggage was identified as 30-year-old Du Li Park of The Colony, Texas.
Authorities escorted Park and her luggage to an inspection station, where officers extracted 60 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana with a combined weight of over 71 pounds. Officials estimated the street value of the marijuana at $330,000 in the United States and potentially two to three times higher in London, depending on the potency.
Park was arrested by Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police and charged with felony possession with intent to distribute, transporting a controlled substance into the Commonwealth, and narcotics conspiracy. CBP officials noted that transporting marijuana across state lines or out of the country is prohibited under federal law.
