Bridgeville man charged with fifth DUI after early morning traffic stop

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. — Delaware State Police arrested Glen Sample, 59, of Bridgeville early Wednesday morning for his fifth DUI offense after he was pulled over for speeding on Seashore Highway.

At approximately 1:37 a.m., a state trooper observed a Nissan Maxima traveling westbound near Wilson Hill Road at a high speed and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Sample, reportedly displayed signs of impairment during the interaction.

According to the police, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted, leading to Sample’s arrest for driving under the influence. A records check revealed that Sample had four prior DUI convictions and a suspended driver’s license at the time of the stop.

Sample was transported to Troop 5, where he was charged with felony fifth-offense DUI, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and speeding. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on a $6,150 unsecured bond.
