Ocean City parade to bring road closures, traffic changes Saturday

OCEAN CITY, Md. — The Ocean City Christmas Parade is set to roll down Coastal Highway on Saturday, December 7, 2024, bringing road closures and significant traffic adjustments to the area.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and follow an extended route from Old Landing Road to 120th Street. The Department of Public Works will initiate traffic changes at 7:45 a.m., with the full traffic pattern in place by 9:00 a.m.

Southbound lanes of Coastal Highway from 100th Street to 125th Street will be closed for the parade and spectator viewing, while the northbound lanes will accommodate two-way traffic. Officials warn motorists to expect delays throughout the event and in the following hours.

After the parade, festivities will continue at the Carousel Hotel, featuring an awards presentation and family-friendly activities. The Ocean City Police Department also urged attendees to follow safety measures, including using marked crosswalks, riding bikes in designated lanes, and driving cautiously.

“Slow down, stay alert, and always drive sober,” the police department advised in a public statement.
