85-year-old Staten Island man charged for murder of elderly wife in domestic attack

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — An 85-year-old Staten Island man was arrested Friday in connection with the fatal stabbing of an elderly woman in a residential neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 11:31 p.m. Thursday about an assault in progress at 33A Carmel Court, located in the 122nd Precinct, authorities reported.

At the scene, officers found Laxmiben Khristi, 87, with a stab wound to her chest. She was transported to Staten Island University North Campus by emergency medical services, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police arrested Pitarbhai Khristi, 85, of 33 Carmel Court, on Friday at 4:50 p.m. He has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident, according to officials.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing remains ongoing.
