Solon man’s holiday intuition leads to $51K Pick 5 jackpot

Pile of money.

SOLON, Ohio — Tony, a Solon resident, had plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving after winning $51,668 in the November 28 midday Pick 5 drawing by playing a combination of his and his wife’s birthdays.

The winning numbers—1, 7, 9, 2, 2—matched Tony’s picks, bringing him an unexpected holiday windfall. “I played my birthday, January 7, and my wife’s birthday, September 22,” he shared. “That’s what came out on Thanksgiving Day.”

After state and federal taxes totaling 28 percent, Tony will take home approximately $37,200.96. Approaching retirement, he plans to save his winnings for the future.

Pick 5 is a daily draw game with twice-daily drawings at 12:29 p.m. and 7:29 p.m., offering players chances to win prizes every day of the week.
