Two men arrested in Sterling road rage shooting

ERLING, Va. — Two suspects are in custody following a road rage shooting in Sterling earlier this week that left a vehicle damaged but resulted in no injuries, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on December 3 near East Maple Avenue and South Lincoln Avenue. Deputies responding to reports of gunfire found that shots had been fired at an occupied vehicle during a road rage altercation.

The suspects, identified as Aldo Betancourth Rivera, 34, and Jimmy Paredes Madrid, 29, were arrested on December 4 after detectives located the vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting. Both are facing felony charges.

Betancourth Rivera has been charged as a principal in the second degree for shooting into an occupied vehicle. Paredes Madrid faces charges including Shooting from a Vehicle, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, and Brandishing a Firearm. Both are being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking additional information related to the incident.
