ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the August shooting that killed 13-year-old Michael Tubb and injured another teenager, authorities announced Thursday.

Thomas Acee, 21, was taken into custody on December 5 and faces several felony charges, including an open count of first-degree murder. Investigators say Acee fired at a vehicle near 4th Street SW and Atlantic Avenue SW in Downtown Albuquerque on August 18. The vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old girl, was struck by gunfire, killing passenger Michael Tubb and injuring the driver.

Acee’s arrest follows that of Michael Flores, 22, who was taken into custody on November 13. Flores also faces an open count of first-degree murder. Detectives have since determined that Acee and Flores were together when the shooting occurred.

Local news outlets noted that Acee is the son of FBI Special Agent Bryan Acee, a prominent figure in the area who occasionally speaks to the media on crime-related topics.

Both suspects are being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center. Police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities are pursuing justice in the senseless killing of a young teenager in Albuquerque.
