Clear Video Shows Reported Drone Sighting in Jackson Township Thursday Night

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A reported drone hovering low over Jackson Township on Thursday night sparked concern among dozens of residents.

The sighting began around 9:00 p.m., with witnesses reporting a mysterious object heading northwest over the township from an apparent origin point to the east, possibly over the ocean. Residents across Jackson spotted the object multiple times as it continued toward Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (MDL).

While initially mistaken for a drone, the flight path was determined to align with standard military aircraft routes. Video footage later confirmed the object to be a military cargo plane, dispelling concerns of unauthorized or unidentified drone activity.

The incident comes amid heightened awareness of drones in the region, including reports of ocean-launched drones along the Jersey Shore, though this particular case appears unrelated.
