Man killed in shooting on Fairview Street in Chesapeake, police say

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A man was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in Chesapeake, prompting an ongoing investigation by police.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of Fairview Street at approximately 4:57 p.m. for reports of a shooting, according to the Chesapeake Police Department. Upon arrival, officers and fire personnel found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Despite attempts to perform life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Police have not released the identity of the victim and no information about a possible suspect or motive has been disclosed. Investigators remain on the scene, and police stated that additional details will be made available as the investigation progresses.
