Fuggedaboutit! Steve Van Zandt Wants New Jersey’s Drones to Swim with the Fishes in Nationwide Ban

ASBURY PARK, NJ — Want to fix New Jersey’s drone crisis? Fuggedaboutit. New Jersey Sopranos star Steve Van Zandt has a solution.

Ban them all. Badda bing! Badda boom! Done.

Drone enthusiasts online replied with the Sopranos’ trademark, “Ohhhhh! Ayyyyy!”

New Jersey rocker Steven Van Zandt called for all drones to be made illegal in the United States, saying their legality poses a potential security threat.

Van Zandt woke up this morning and appeared on MSNBC’s The 11th Hour on December 13, Van Zandt questioned why drones remain legal, warning that they could be used in terrorist attacks. “Are they not a terrorist act waiting to happen?” he said. “I mean, it’s a miracle there hasn’t been a terrorist act done by drones.”

The comments come amid growing reports of unidentified drones being spotted across New Jersey, with some described as being as large as cars. Law enforcement and U.S. Coast Guard personnel have reported sightings, but federal officials have assured the public there is no known threat to national security.

Van Zandt emphasized his position with a blunt call for action. “Make them illegal. Make them all illegal and you don’t have to worry about what they are,” he said. “It could be a bomb … (Drones being legal is) a dumb idea. It should be illegal — all drones should be illegal.”

While no legislation has been proposed in response to the sightings, Homeland Security officials have acknowledged the situation and provided resources to assist New Jersey authorities.

Steven Van Zandt called drones a dangerous liability, urging lawmakers to ban them nationwide to prevent potential security threats.
