Wilkes-Barre man arrested for domestic assault on Carey Avenue

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A 57-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute at a Carey Avenue residence, according to Wilkes-Barre police.

Officers were dispatched to the home at 3:47 a.m., where they encountered the victim, a 44-year-old woman, who reported being physically attacked by the suspect, identified as Pedro Acero-Mainato of Wilkes-Barre.

The victim told police that a verbal altercation escalated when Acero-Mainato struck her multiple times, pulled an earring from her ear, and kicked her in the back. Emergency medical personnel treated the victim at the scene for her injuries, which were not detailed by authorities.

Acero-Mainato was taken into custody at the scene and transported to City Headquarters for processing and arraignment. No further details about his charges were immediately released.
