Wilkes-Barre police investigate assault on North Franklin Street

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Police are investigating an early morning assault on North Franklin Street in which a man forced his way into a residence and attacked a woman before fleeing, according to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 5:10 a.m. on Thursday after the 33-year-old victim reported the incident. She told police that the suspect, identified only as “Lamont,” arrived at her residence, pushed his way inside, and struck her multiple times in the face before escaping.

Authorities described the suspect as a Black male, but his age and other identifying details remain unknown.

The victim, a Wilkes-Barre resident, sustained injuries, though police have not released information regarding her medical condition.

The investigation remains active, and police are asking anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact the department.
