CRANFORD, N.J. — A Piscataway man was arrested early Friday morning after Cranford police discovered a loaded, stolen firearm during a motor vehicle stop on Raritan Road.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:53 a.m. when Officer Liam Duffy pulled over a gray 2023 Honda for a moving violation near Raritan Road and Coleman Avenue. Officer Matthew Richel responded as backup during the stop.

Police say the driver, identified as 28-year-old Devon Anderson, was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm Masada semi-automatic handgun with 11 rounds of ammunition. The firearm was later confirmed to have been reported stolen out of Newark.

Further investigation revealed Anderson was also carrying multiple magazines and additional 9mm ammunition. Authorities charged Anderson with second-degree possession of a firearm, third-degree possession of a stolen firearm, and third-degree certain persons prohibited from possessing a firearm.
