Elderly Man Hospitalized After Being Beaten on NYC Subway Train

NEW YORK CITY — An 83-year-old man was assaulted aboard a southbound “5” train early Friday morning, sustaining injuries to his face and head, according to police reports.

The incident occurred around 6:10 a.m. as the train approached the Fulton Street subway station. An unidentified man began arguing with the victim before punching him multiple times in the face, police said.

The assailant fled the train on foot after the attack. Authorities have not yet identified the suspect, who remains at large.

The victim, who suffered lacerations to his face and head, traveled by private means to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County for treatment. His condition has not been disclosed.

The NYPD is investigating the assault, which adds to concerns about subway safety in the city. Officials are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact authorities.
