WILMINGTON, Del. — The Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a Dollar General store on East Newport Pike after a suspect armed with a taser threatened an employee before fleeing the scene, authorities said.

The incident occurred on the night of December 24, 2024, at approximately 9:22 p.m. Investigators say the suspect, described as an unknown white male, entered the store and activated a taser while demanding money from the cash register.

The suspect charged at the employee with the taser, but the employee pushed him away and retrieved a baseball bat. The suspect then fled the store on foot in the direction of East Highland Avenue. No injuries were reported in the incident, according to police.

Surveillance footage of the suspect has not yet been made available, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
