NEW YORK — Authorities are searching for a 52-year-old man in connection with two separate subway stabbings this week that left two victims injured, according to the NYPD.
The first incident occurred Wednesday morning at approximately 9:40 a.m. aboard a northbound 2 train at the 14 Street and 7 Avenue Station in Manhattan. Police said a 31-year-old man was engaged in a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual who then displayed a knife and stabbed him in the back. The suspect fled the station on foot, and the victim was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
The second attack happened early Thursday morning around 6:10 a.m. on the northbound 5 train platform at the Pelham Parkway Station in the Bronx. Police reported that an off-duty 47-year-old MTA employee was stabbed in the armpit and back during a verbal altercation with an unidentified individual. The suspect again fled the scene, and the victim was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, also in stable condition.
Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as Jamar Banks, a 52-year-old man described as having a dark complexion, standing approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall, and weighing around 120 pounds.
