Beagle Rescued from Icy Pond by Stafford County Deputy

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A beagle named Rico was safely rescued from an icy pond in Stafford Lakes Village early Friday morning, thanks to the swift actions of a Stafford County sheriff’s deputy.

At approximately 6:54 a.m., Deputy R.A. Peterson responded to reports of a dog that had fallen through the ice. Upon arrival, Deputy Peterson, alongside Stafford Fire and Rescue personnel, located Rico struggling in the freezing water.

Using a catch pole, Deputy Peterson successfully pulled the beagle to safety. Rico was later reunited with his owner and is expected to recover fully.

Authorities commended Deputy Peterson for her quick thinking and response to the emergency.
