Pittsburgh, PA – A Penn Hills man, Raymond Byrdsong Jr., 38, was taken into custody after being charged with raping his former girlfriend.

Byrdsong is facing charges including felony counts of rape, aggravated indecent assault, and sexual assault related to an incident on December 12. On that day, the victim reported to police that she was forced into her home’s basement and assaulted before she could escape to her mother’s house.

Following a 911 call, Penn Hills Police found Byrdsong in a running vehicle outside the victim’s residence. Byrdsong fled at high speed and had been evading capture since.

Earlier this week, Penn Hills Police requested assistance in locating Byrdsong. Detectives discovered he was hiding in a residence on Shenandoah Drive in Penn Hills and arrested him at 7 p.m. Tuesday, finding him concealed under a bed. Byrdsong was taken into custody without incident and is now at the Allegheny County Jail.
