93-year-old woman killed in Scottsville Center parking lot accident

SCOTTSVILLE, VA — A 93-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in a parking lot accident at Scottsville Center on Sunday afternoon, according to the Albemarle County Police Department.

The incident occurred around 1:26 p.m. on January 12, 2025. First responders from the Albemarle County Police Department and Albemarle County Fire Rescue arrived to find Noreen C. Wilbourn of Esmont, Virginia, in life-threatening condition. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that Ms. Wilbourn was a passenger in the vehicle that struck her. While reversing out of a parking space, the driver accidentally backed up and struck Wilbourn with the passenger-side front door, causing her to fall.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
