Man shot and killed in broad daylight in troubled Philadelphia Kensington neighborhood

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A man was shot and killed in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood on Monday afternoon, marking another act of gun violence in the city.

Police say the shooting occurred around 2:43 p.m. in the 24th District near 800 E Allegheny Avenue. The victim, identified only as “John Doe” and believed to be about 25 years old, was struck multiple times across his body while on the roadway.

Officers rushed the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m.

Authorities confirmed the scene was secured; however, no weapons were recovered, and no arrests have been made.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating. A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
